Participants in Sport Climbing are divided into age appropriate CATEGORIES. As per CEC’ Long Term Athlete Development Model, as well as the IFSC categories standards, here are the Canadian’s sport climbing categories:
- Youth D: 10/11 years old – does NOT compete at Regional nor National Championships
- Youth C: 12/13 years old – does NOT compete at National Championships
- Youth B: 14/15 years old
- Youth A: 16/17 years old
- Junior: 18/19 years old
- Senior: 16+ years old
For the 2021 NACS, eligibility is defined as the age of participant at December 31, 2021, following these years of birth:
- Senior: participants born 2005 and before
For the 2021-2022 CEC Competition Season, eligibility is defined as the age of participant at December 31, 2022, following these years of birth:
- Youth D: participants born in 2011 or 2012
- Youth C: participants born in 2009 or 2010
- Youth B: participants born in 2007 or 2008
- Youth A: participants born in 2005 or 2006
- Junior: participants born in 2003 or 2004
- Senior: participants born in 2006 and before
